This is the time of year that we are left scrambling to tie up the loose ends for the NSSL Hazardous Weather Testbed’s Experimental Warning Program. Often this means some late nights. Every once in a while, however, this turns out to be a good thing.
I was heading home to catch up with Aileen for the first time in what seems like a loooong time when I saw some lightning flashes. As I turned to look, I realized that I had my camera and tripod with me and that this looks like a pretty good photo op to get some lightning with the NWC in the foreground.
Though I would liked to have had some better (photogenic) lightning – and/or the ability to compose the NWC without the “safeguarding” trees surrounding the north and east sides of the building – getting a night time lightning shot with a well lit building often results in a fairly dramatic image.
This one is the best of the bunch. I will probably post some of the others a bit later… like after the EWP ends.
